WARNING. THIS ENTRY CONTAINS THIS THING CALLED AN OPINION. You don't have to agree with it. Likewise, I don't have to agree with yours. But I will respect it, so all I ask is the same of you. KEEP THE DRAMA UNDER YOUR BED WHERE IT BELONGS, KPLSTHNKS.
...Not that I think anyone's going to cause any havoc, but all the same... ;B
Anyway. It's only recently come to my attention that some viewers, upon initial viewing of The Runaway Bride, hated Donna.
Whaaat? D8
Was I the only one who adored her in TRB and was devastated when she told the Doctor she wasn't going to travel with him?
Admittedly I was watching the series rather backward; I started with Series 3 reruns on Sci-Fi (back when it was Sci-Fi and not Syfy, which is pronounced "siffy," short for syphilis, which is what you get from watching their horrid programming, but that's for another time.)
I got through Last of the Time Lords, The Shakespeare Code, Gridlock and Daleks in Manhattan before before realising this was a show I had to see all of, and so I bought Series 2 and 3 from Amazon and caught up properly.
So I had seen both Martha and Rose before I actually got, in episodic order, to The Runaway Bride. And I still loved Donna best, even as shallow, petty and flippant as she was. Because even in that episode she's still wonderful and sweet and compassionate.
When I heard that she was going to be the regular companion for S4 I cheered. And then, as that regular companion, she came back with a Lady McBadass Upgrade of Awesome and took over as Most Brilliant Companion in All of Doctor Who. (And when you consider how old the program is and how many companions ol' Theta has travelled with, that's an achievement of universal proportion.)
So Im just curious, how many people who love Donna now and loved her in Series 4, loved her in TRB? Was it love at first sight or did you have to be won over?
