1. What did you do in 2022 that you'd never done before?
Changed a tire? I mean, it was with help, but I was still involved. I actually had to change out three of my four tires in one year, so...

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
lol No. I have the same one every year --finish my book-- and since I did not do it this year, it rolls over to next year. at this point, it feels like it's gathering deadly karma, like Madoka in puella magi madoka magica. (this manuscript is going to become a universe-devouring witch at this rate)

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
nobody close to me. a new coworker and an old coworker did, but nobody I'm on intimate enough terms with to be like OMG BABY ADOPTED NIBLING

4. Did anyone close to you die?
my baby Loxy boy. June 20, 2022. He declined from kidney failure rather rapidly after we moved in with Keeb and we had to put him to sleep. He was 18 years old. also, like... we lost Bernard Cribbins this year. How tf is that fair?

5. What countries did you visit?
didn't get to go anywhere this year. maybe next year.

6. What would you like to have in 2023 that you lacked in 2022?
gonna steal Pea's answers bc we both have adhd and the goals are similar: better focus and follow-through. Also a house. Would like to stop living in my car, please. Also enough money to put brother in rehab

7. What date from 2022 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
january 3, the day I realised my friend Kate was literally the most generous human being ever. april 15, the day i left my apartment. june 20, the last day I had with Loxy. august 1, the day i began living full-time in my car. november 1, the day my brother joined me in the car.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
it's been a bad year. honestly the fact i kept my sanity and kept my brother alive through it is a huge achievement.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Well, I'm homeless, but I don't really consider that a failure on my part-- that's capitalism sucking the soul out of my country. Actual failure is that I let another year go by without finishing my book.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
i got covid early in the year, but otherwise i've been relatively healthy.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Wasn't buying a whole lot this year; trying to save money. I did get a stuffed squid from Cracker Barrel I named Ishamel. He's cute.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My friends Kate, Finn, and Alec-- holy shit. Superheroes. and just for the record: me. I managed to remain a beacon of hope and optimism despite homelessness and near destitution and watching my brother spiral again and again. Super proud of myself for that.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My brother. He's an alcoholic, so I know he can't help it, and he's been doing better, but it was goddamn rough there for most of the year. Even now we keep hitting snags and it makes me wanna throttle him.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Food. Having to eat out for every single meal bc you have no place to store groceries or cook your own meals adds tf up real fast.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Jodie Whittaker regenerating into David Tennant was a pretty big goddamn deal, tbh. I havent felt like that since I was 23.

The job at the Hilton so I can actually make money again.

Enough money to pay off my debts and buy a home. Also my brother's sobriety.

Didn't watch a whole lot of movies this year. I really enjoyed The Batman, and Elvis.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Keeb bought me a bottle of whisky and a cake, and we watched The Batman. I turned 37. (and wow I felt very much like my mom writing that sentence.)

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Stealing Pea's answer bc again, we have the same problems: My brother not having a year long fucking crisis.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2022?
Comfy.

33. What kept you sane?
Me. I spent a lot of years and put in a lot of work learning how to understand myself, and building up my personal foundations and healthy coping mechanisms (ie, not self-isolating, or going on spending sprees or food binges to feel better.) This was the year I was fucking tested in every direction. And I had friends who helped, who offered me use of their showers, their laundry, their money, their time, and their shoulders to cry on. I would not be here without them, and I would've have them if I wasn't me. In the end, the person who clawed their way up high enough to even reach the hands that were offered in help was me.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I've been paying a lot of attention to Pedro Pascal in anticipation of The Last of Us starting on January 15 2023, so... him i guess. (His power transcends me even watching his content. He's SO. GODDAMN. PRETTY.)

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
jfc have you seen my country? it's a shambles of a failed state. pick an issue, any issue. i have bitchy opinions about it. between the transphobia vs roe v wade vs wage theft vs homelessness though, i'd say it'd a four-way tie.

36. Who did you miss?
Momma. I always miss my Momma. And Loxy, this year. jesus god in heaven I miss that cat.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
I already knew Finn from last year but this year our friendship grew. I also met Nichole this year and she is a glory.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2022:
Nothing new, but I had my worldview validated by everyone around me: we are made to love, and made of love. If you look for beauty and love in the world you will find it reaching out back to you.

I was not as gentle with my brother as I wanted to be. He's ill, and I know it's an illness, but I let my temper get the better of me many times.

Australia. Or North Carolina. Anywhere, really, but I have friends in both those places.

Tried asparagus and broccoli both for the first time this year. Asparagus I like, broccoli less so.

That nothing will change. I need things to get better.

God no. I don't now and never have given a single solitary shit about sport.
