Things That Amuse Me
Only me, of course. I'm fairly sure no one else cares.

Anyway, on the commentary for The Poison Sky David mentions that Cate texted him to say that John Barrowman was presenting This Morning with Fern Britton. ("Does the man never sit down?!" I always rewind that bit at least twice. I love it.)

That episode aired 1 May 2008 (I looked it up on Barrow's imdb.) So Susie (Liggat, producer) Russell and Dave were doing the commentary two days before broadcast (which I think they actually mention but I couldn't remember the airdate for The Poison Sky.)

Here's the amusing thing: also on 1 May 2008, Russell wrote an email to Ben Cook (as found in The Writer's Tale) that John Simm was confirmed to return as the Master in Dave's last episodes.

Imagine if they'd spilled that on the commentary. xD

/amused (Srsly, that was it. Confluence, not even a coincidence. I told you no one else would care.)

All right, yes, fine, I will get back to writing. (I cannot think of anything funny for Donna to say! And I still can't think of something for Wilf to yell at the Big Bad! GAAAH.)

Actually... that's pretty damn cool.

Im glad you think so! I get way too excited by things like that to tell if it's normal or not, lol.

Ahaha. Omg the hilarity. Though... d'you reckon commentaries go through a proof? They'd HAVE to, surely. Otherwise there'd be spoilers all over the place. (To be fair though, they're spoilers not many people would hear. I still haven't listened to my DW commentaries. Or Life on Mars, or Ashes. Or Buffy, for that matter. Lazy Lil is LAZY.)

Im sure they must do. I know that Dave, Freema and Barrow's Last of the Time Lords commentary never made it onto my DVD (even though it was on the UK release ones) and it probably has something to do with the fact that they blatantly call the President at the time, Bush an idiot. (I lolled, of course. Dave, ever the polite one, tries to cover by saying, "We're recording this in August 2007, just in case you're listening in future years and there's somebody marvelous in office.")

But other than that, DVD commentaries can get away with saying stuff. But the podcommentaries that come out directly after the first broadcast definitely cannot have any spoilers. Phil Collinson, Dave and Cate did one for Partners in Crime in which half the funny comes from Cate going, "Oh, I can't say that!" After the third or fourth time, Phil and Dave are crying with laughter. <3

Behold my fannishness! ;p But its only with Doctor Who, because I have them in mp3 format and listen to them on my iPod. I can't figure out how to encode them myself, or otherwise, Pertwee would be nothing but commentary. Firefly, mostly. And a number of films. <3

LMAO. LMAAAAAAOOOOOO, oh David. I plan on buying the UK ones anyway, cos they're cheaper, but I'll have to see if the commentary is on the Aus release. It probably is. We have no sense of political correctness. xD

Yeah, actually, good point. I suppose if it's a season finale spoiler it wouldn't matter about putting it in the episode one commentary (and actually now that I think of it, Fringe did. They label it on the dvd as THIS IS SPOILERY! Don't watch if you haven't seen the season one finale!!1one) but perhaps not when it refers to a special twelve months down the track, lolz.

Haha, right? I use my iPod music for exercise or sleep, so there's very little audio on there and what is is Stephen Fry (man's voice is the best sleeping drug ever). But I probably should do that. It's easier to pay attention to the commentary when I can see the episode though.

And on that note, I totally know how and can probably teach you, but it's a bit techy and will involve your poor computer having to download at least three new programs and convert massive files. You basically have to rip the dvd contents off, separate out the audio tracks and re-encode them small. The initial rip is something like 4-8GB. You'd probably also need a file joiner, since most of the audio I've ripped comes off in small chapter sections which is just annoying for commentaries. (Not bad for OST's though!)

Haha I love that. "Watch the whole season first, you do NOT want to be spoiled for this! And we blatantly do so anyway!" xD

I throw Pertwee on when Im cleaning or travelling, and usually its music. But sometimes I get a hankering to listen to Dave, so I throw on a commentary. Or Hamlet. I have Hamlet on here too. xD (And the episode audios themselves, minus commentary. And Of Mice and Men that Dave did. Oh Im a fangirl.)

I also have Commentary! The Musical, which is Whedon's musical companion to Doctor Horrible. It is simultaneously really catchy music and hilarious commentary on the film, so... Yay for two birds one stone.

But I can't actually listen to the commentary if I watch the episode cause Im busy looking at the pretty on the telly and then I miss stuff.

Ikr? Fringe, so epic.

Good point. I put on Glee while cleaning. Or obnoxious emo punk rock. I'm cool like that.

I know Commentary. Unfortunately, Doctor Horrible has been forever tainted by the person who introduced me to it (creeper Jordon), so I don't have any great love for seeing it again. I do remember being amused though.

LOLOLOL FOREVER. Tech and I are besties, you know that. ;P
